Being raised in a family of architects I was introduced to architecture, art, and design in my childhood and that gave me good intimacy, a better understanding, and broader background in the field of design. During my studies at Northern Michigan University, I have shown the imagination, originality, and flair that is required of a person who wishes to be successful in the field of human-centered design. As a swimming athlete, I combined my studies in the human-centered design curriculum with regular sports training and competitions. This combination required careful/meticulous planning and high flexibility/adaptability.I am very observant and have many creative qualities. I am excited to explore new Interesting and stimulating challenges that have the potential to contribute to the improvement of the world. For my designs I use a client-tailored approach that takes into account the intended functionality, aesthetics and possible pitfalls that customers want to address or from the desired functionality and aesthetics that customers want to achieve.
Healthcare is a field that I have not seen designers exploring, this is a niche in which there is still a lot of room for improvement This is why I have started to focus more on this field, I got especially interested in the field of veterinary orthopedics, prosthesis, and orthosis.
Words can have many meanings and can change our perception. Based on a single word added, we can start to redesign an existing product that we use every day. The sharp card reader builds on this process by redesigning a card reader based on a “sharp form”. This card reader was first sculpted in clay and then made and finished in insulation foam. This model was then built on a scale of 1:1 to test the effectiveness of the card reader.
The whirling leaf lamp was created as a result of paper and shape explorations. The lampshade is made only from recycled binding paper. No glue or other support has been used to mount the lampshade. The swirling leaf lamp when it is marketed would be available in multiple colors to match the interior design of any home. This lampshade can be used as a hanging or small standing lamp. The swirling leaf lamp consists of 16 separate leaf-like curved paper inserts.
The flow of light idea emerged as a result of paper and shape explorations. The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao inspired me to include the curvilinear flow and different heights in my designs. The prototypes were made from Bond Paper. The end products are made with red oak veneer. The GE LED lamp glows warm yellow to reflect the natural feel and give the lampshades a vivid sense of nature.
Bringing food to a festival or social gathering can be difficult if you have to carry a lot of it. The presented solution consists of a food container that can be stacked while food is in the recipient. This food container can be stacked while it is empty and also when it is filled by turning it 90°. The food container has a place for two small snacks or two sauces that would be served along with the food. This food container can be made by vacuum forming and would be available in multiple colors.
Designers need to fully understand the subject and material they are going to use and need to know what they can or cannot make with it. A form study is a good way to learn to understand the materials. A computer mouse can be a designer's greatest friend if it is ergonomic and therefore easy to use. Redesigning a computer mouse himself is a good way for a designer to improve his skills and test his creativity in combination with an ergonomic design
Sketches are often the first step to bringing a design to life. A designer has to make a lot of iterations to find a product that is both usable and aesthetically pleasing to the user. Most designers work on a desk or drawing board and need to keep design gear in one place. A good way to keep everything in order is a by using a desk organizer. By making many iterations of the design for a desk organizer, we can test what works and what doesn't. By continuing to combine, we come to a nice functional desk organizer.
As designer you will come across a lot of different types of software design tools. Rhino is one of the 3-D software products that designers can use to design, model, present, analyze and realize their ideas. Before selecting a new software, you will want to explore the software capabilities and experience its easiness to learn and use. An efficient way of designing a new product is to start with an already existing one. For the pencil sharpener in this example, the inner mechanism was chosen as the starting point and this with the instructions to design a more organic housing for it.
3D printing is a way of bringing design to life. A designer needs to master how to create a finishing layer and apply it to a 3D print. 3-D printing is also used to produce functional or aesthetic prototypes, and as a rapid prototyping tool to improve the design process. By designing a coffee mug, I got the chance to discover how 3D printing works and how it can be finished after the 3D printing. By sealing the 3D model, I was able to produce a functional coffee mug in real size.
Windmills are a source of clean and renewable energy. This energy is good for the environment and makes it possible to continue using electricity without further affecting climate change. Unfortunately, the windmill blades are not reusable if they are damaged or become too old. These blades are also hardly recyclable and most end up in windmill cemeteries. As designers, we strive for a better world. So why not use the windmill blades as structural pieces in buildings or turn them into functional artistic objects? This is what I tried to do here by using 2 windmill blades as the basis for an outdoor bench. The construction offers people a place to sit, provides shade or protection from the rain.
Every year in America, 96,700 people die from drug overdoses, about 78,056 of these people as a result of an opioid overdose. Opioids are prescribed by many doctors in America as a painkiller. Opioids are highly and very quickly addictive. The addiction quickly causes one to lose control of one's financial means, his life and to lose family and friends. Many addicted people end up with an overdose. Narcan (Naloxone) kits can be used to quickly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. This means if someone overdoses on pain medicine or opioids, Narcan kits can save their life. By designing a functional overdose kit that can be easily provided and used in different places, we can help reduce the risk of overdose death. In addition to Narcan, the kit will also include pamphlets with instructions and information on how to contact rehab centers and how to seek further medical and psychological help to prevent another overdose and information on how to help people cope with opioid addiction.
The "magic paw" consists of four parts: a rubber base, titanium shaft, screw and a soft plastic guard that wraps around the remaining stump. This design helps bring the dog's center of gravity closer to its original position, making it feel like the dog has four legs again. The magic paw can be produced in the color and texture preferences that the owner of the dog prefers. A big advantage of this prosthesis in that it does not require complete amputation of the leg, which otherwise happens in most cases.
As a result of exploring the ergonomics and anatomy of the human hand, I wanted to create a hand vacuum cleaner that is easy to use, easy to hold for extended periods of time, and is sculptural. After much research, I found that a handle at an angle of 3° - 7° to the user, a rounded elliptical cylinder, and the center of gravity close to the user offers the most ergonomic design. These conditions were met by placing the motor and batteries in the handle at the back of the hand vacuum cleaner.
People are always looking for a place to come together and do something as a group. By designing this interactive micro-environment, I want to bring people together and encourage them to learn something new or discover more about something. This place could also be used to just relax or hang out. By creating different ways in which people can sit or lie down, I create a pleasant experience for everyone. I also kept in mind that two strangers can sit in this space without entering into each other's personal space, which could make it uncomfortable.
Taking care of your nails can help prevent infections and other health problems. If you've ever had an ingrown toenail or nail fungus, you know how painful and uncomfortable these conditions can be. Older people should certainly also take care of their nails because they are even more vulnerable to infections and other health problems. Nail clippers are often small and not easy to use. Therefore, an extension for nail clippers is useful for the elderly. This extension is both ergonomically designed and prevents people from having to pick up their nails after cutting thanks to the provided collection tray.
When thinking about designing the right shape of a brace for scoliosis, you need to consider body posture, range of motion, tension, and many other factors. One of the first and most important elements to consider is your back. The spine is very sensitive to injuries and good posture of the back is crucial for injury prevention as is the proper performance of exercises in daily life. Young people often have poor posture due to the excessive use of mobile phones, game controllers, and computers. This causes more scoliosis in this generation. If we can correct their posture, it will help prevent scoliosis. With muscle stimulation, we can strengthen the back and further help prevent scoliosis from occurring.
The Birling series explores the complexities of change in human life.
Through a variety of mediums and techniques including woodworking, metal sculpture, and 3D printing, I seek to create pieces that invite viewers to reflect on how their own lives are changing with the world around them.
I am inspired by the beauty of change and how it twists our perspective, as well as the many nuances of human emotion and experience we find in change. By expressing these themes through my artwork, I hope to connect with viewers on a deep and meaningful level, encouraging them to think critically about their own lives and the world we share.
Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to create pieces that not only engage and inspire but also challenge viewers to see the world in new and unexpected ways.
